Ogun Customs intercepts magical vehicle laden with contraband

In continuation of the fight against smuggling, the Ogun 1 Customs Area Controller command (CAC) Special Taskforce Team intercepted a Volkswagen Golf car with ingenious concealment of foreign parboiled rice in different compartment of the car, including the engine, dashboard, doors, fuel tank and reconstructed back bumper.

The operation which based on credible intelligence has also led to the arrest of three (3) other vehicles laden with offensive contrabands , such as foreign parboiled rice, used shoes, used clothing and used pneumatic tyres .

A statement by the Command Public Relations Officer, H. B Oloyede told Pinnacle Time that upon examination, a total of 130x 50kg bags of rice, 52 pairs of used shoes, 2 bales of secondhand clothes and 8 bundles of used pneumatic tyres comprising of 28 pieces was discovered in the aforementioned vehicles.

The statement further said the CAC, Comptroller Michael Agbara condemned the ingenious method of the rice concealment and lamented the danger posed to consumers of such rice as it is harmful to human health. The CAC also warn the general public to desist from buying and using used, and expired pneumatic tyres which overtime, noted for causing accidents on the roads.

The CAC Special Taskforce Team also in September intercepted additional 135 bags of foreign parboiled rice , with its Imeko Out Station adding seventy 79 bags more seizures, bringing the total bags of 50kg rice seized within the first two weeks of September 2020.

Pinnacle Time gathered that the OC CAC Special Taskforce Team, known simply as Lawal remains one of the most daring amongst the Agbara boys; and like a sphinx, is neither seen or unknown.
